In 2021 the Corps will be commemorating and celebrating 100 years since its formation in 1921. Over these 100 years the Corps has had an enormously varied history, contributing to the operational effectiveness and health of the Army both at peace and at war.

During 2021 we will be taking part in a number of events that will both commemorate and celebrate the Corps' first 100 years. This will include serving and retired persons from both the Regular and Reserve forces.

Additionally several members and ex-members of the Corps are writing a series of articles for the British Dental Journal that tell the Corps' story and its contributions to the Army and the wider dental profession.

A project carried out in conjunction with the Museum of Military Medicine will be showcasing a temporary exhibition of RADC historical pieces and stories. This will be shown at a number of military museums across the UK during the Centenary year.

The success of the Centenary year will depend on ensuring as many people who have been involved with the Corps' history, including close family members who have been part of Corps family and history, are aware of the plans for 2021 so they can attend the events listed herein. Therefore, if you are in contact with anyone who might wish to attend any of the above events then please pass on the details.

RADC100 CDO Address on youtube

As your Corps Centenary Committee continue to struggle against a backdrop of COVID uncertainty to deliver the fullest possible programme of events in 2022,  the latest update is:

  • On account of restrictions, it is now the intention to mark this significant date (The actual signing of the Corps Warrant) by a short service hopefully held in the RADC Corps Chapel to mark the occasion and re-dedicate the Corps standards. This will be attended by only Cols Comdt, CDO (A), Rep SM, Padre and 2 x RADC Officers and 2 x RADC Soldiers (Nominated) It is the intention (subject to prevailing restrictions) to film this event and place it, together with CDO(A)’s Centenary Address on both the RADC Facebook Page and on this website- Please continue to visit us here.

  • All other Centenary year events are being planned for under the planning assumption that they can be delivered. Under the present climate of uncertainty however we must get used to the fact that frequent changes will have to be made to enable maximisation and delivery of as many centenary events as possible. Not all changes unfortunately will be able to give as much notice as we would wish.

  • It is absolutely imperative to the success of centenary year therefore that all Past and Present Corps members keep a close eye and regular watch on both the Royal Army Dental Corps Facebook page and on the RADC Association website.  The information available should be mirrored on both of these location but one or other may be preferential or more accessible to individuals (Best to access both as there are other non centenary items on each that will be of interest). We would ask also that all Corps friends and colleagues in friendship networks and circles are made aware of any information that you would regard as relevant or of interest to them.

  • Ultimately, Regimental Headquarters (RHQ RADC) retains oversight and control of the Corps Centenary programme and should any uncertainty exist or any clarification be required, Reg Sec should be contacted at radcrhq@hotmail.com
